Nations United is a humanitarian developmental organization that works towards the uniting of nations for the express purpose of raising awareness about humanitarian causes globally. Nations United (NU) utilizes partners (individuals, corporate, governmental) and a variety of social media outlets to accomplish this. Furthermore NU helps to structure, advertise, expose and manage projects through the power of international unity between different individuals and communities.

The causes that Nations United focuses on are diverse and not limited to a specific region or issue.

NU uses, but is not limited to, such platforms as Facebook and Twitter in order to inform and focus the international community of different causes worldwide. The center of the platform begins with the Nations United Facebook and Twitter page.

Apart from our social media pages, the Nations United team also assists in spreading the NU vision by using their personal pages as a sub-platform for discussions and support. Their personal social media pages can be accessed through the NU team.

In addition to Social Media, Nations United annually holds an Awards Ceremony to give recognition to those who have showed their support to the organization and its followers. This event is also a place in which all who have participated in Nations United’s global projects can meet each other and share ideas.

Our VISION:

Nations United believes that everyone in the world should have the same Human Rights, and that these individuals are capable of making a difference, and that this difference happens when people come together to discuss, create and inspire.

Coming together shouldn’t only be limited to the people in your community or country, but be accessible to the world. Nations United creates a sense of community on an international level by encouraging participation of followers to support projects from all around the globe.

Our MISSION:
Sustainability is the key and solution to every community’s, country’s or nation’s issues. Projects should not be aimed at achieving temporary outcomes, but should have a lasting effect on generations to come. Humanitarian aid is a very common way of helping those in need, but it is ineffective with solving the root of the problem, it’s serves only as temporary relief. Nations United believes that lasting change comes from the bottom up; sustainability, in which the people are the ones motivated with positive action, instead of programs that are implemented from the top down.

This is why Nations United is introducing the term ‘Neo-humanitarianism’.

Neo-humanitarianism: a form of humanitarianism that aims at creating sustainable development by utilizing local resources.

Faces of Transformation is Nations United’s first web based program that has been achieving huge success globally while emphasizing the mission of our organization, ‘Bringing Nations Together to Create Unity’.

The concept of Faces of Transformation is to bring together humanitarian work, social media, reality programs and the spirit of our youth to one platform. We accepted over 3000 nominations from inspiring humanitarians and their projects. Among them, 11 candidates were selected from 11 countries. Each candidate worked on developing a project while competing to be part of the Nations United Team as the spokesperson and new face of the organization.

‘Faces of Transformation’ is more than a competition; it is a platform for sharing the experience of starting a project while using tools available to all of us, internationally. Throughout the monthly challenges, the participants build their networks and develop each of their projects. While the missions vary between education, refugees, bullying, economic status and human rights, the structure for starting these projects is similar. The first month’s challenge allowed the participants to develop their networks through social media. The second month’s challenge allows the participants to explore how the networks they built may assist them in the achievement of their missions. Faces of Transformation utilizes social media to educate the followers of our program about the possibilities they can create using the tools available to each of them. It is a journey of learning and a program of global participation.

Each month, 3 participants enter the Red Zone, our bottom 3 performers, where global votes are cast for one participant to remain on the journey of becoming the next Face of Nations United. While the Red Zone is for the competition element and entertainment purposes, it allows the participants to highlight their projects and gain further networks of support. This builds a strong community support for all of the projects. The first season took place in 2011 and ended with Brandon Jackson from the United States of America as the Face of NU in 2012. to see the last season click here www.FacesofTransformation.com

Chaker Khazaal is a writer, filmmaker, entrepreneur, public speaker and philanthropist. He is the visionary behind Nations United and Faces of Transformation, the world’s first humanitarian web-based reality program.

Born in Beirut, Lebanon, of Palestinian background, Chaker grew up in a creative, loving and supportive community despite the regular threats of armed conflict and constant political tension. In 2002, at the age of 15, Chaker starred in the film Sugar of Jaffa, a documentary directed by Hicham Kayed. The very next year, Chaker jumped at the opportunity to work behind the camera to produce his first film, And That’s How We Started. This short film depicts the dreams and aspirations of Palestinian youths living in Lebanese refugee camps. The film successfully debuted in Bergen, Norway and then screened in various other locations. As a result of his filming experience with Palestinian youths, Chaker co-founded a theatre and film group in the Bourj Al-Barajneh refugee camp in Beirut, Lebanon.

Chaker then dedicated his time to academics and professional development. In 2005, he accepted the York University Global Leader of Tomorrow Award for demonstrating academic excellence, leadership, and community service. Chaker moved to Toronto, Canada and began his studies as an international student at York University. At York Chaker studied film, foreign languages, politics and social sciences while also working for the university in the international recruitment and admissions department. Chaker finished his program in 2009 with Bachelor of Arts in International Development Studies. He is most grateful to the many individuals in the international community who helped support his education.

Chaker held the position of International Director with the education management and recruitment firm Can Study Canada, and currently remains as a member of the Board of Directors. While internationally recruiting students, Chaker had the pleasure of exploring his passions for commerce, travel, and international relations. Following these ventures, Chaker began exploring his passion for filmmaking, and was recently honoured as a member of the Trade Union of the Technicians of Cinema in Lebanon.

Nations United stems out of Chaker’s passion to diverse collaborations in order to achieve in life. Nations United not only builds the necessary contacts for humanitarian projects to allocate supporters and funding but also structures the projects to sustainably run in the region of operation.

Chaker went to Lebanon in September 2010 where he participated in a press conference that presented Nations United and its values with the Arabic community. Through written and visual press, a call for aid in refugee affairs was launched. This led to cooperation with local non-governmental organizations implementing programs in education by sponsoring young aspiring students to receive university education. Chaker is acting as the spokesperson for the Women’s Humanitarian Organization focusing on sponsoring young Palestinian women achieving their educational goals. Through one of Nations United’s Big 7 Campaigns Freedom International for Nations United (FINU), Chaker has created a platform, which will organize aid to refugees worldwide.

Chaker visited Kiev, Ukraine in November 2010 where he was widely received by the press. Along with the Nations United team, he took part in a press conference held by Unian News Agency and had a one hour spot on the local television station TRK where he was interviewed about Nations United’s campaigns, and IGOERA – the feature film Nations United is co-producing. The success of this press reflects the wider success of Nations United’s mission and goals – to bring diverse nations together through collaborative media projects.

Chaker is now acting as the spokesperson of the Child Well-Being Fund of Ukraine, developing and implementing innovations into the areas of social work, community mobilization and partnerships in order to create an environment that improves the living conditions of children and families and to ensure the full potential of every child in the Ukraine.

Chaker has structured the Nations United seven campaigns and remains very involved with each campaign. In 2011, Chaker and the Nations United team designed Faces of Transformation, a program by Nations United bringing nations, social media, humanitarianism and reality shows together. He is the host of the first humanitarian web-based reality and a social media judge. Click here to watch Chaker in the Faces of Transformation promo!

Through his Facebook page that attracted over 80,000 fans in the first few months of its launch, Chaker raises awareness about different humanitarian causes and specially those related to refugees. Chaker believes that there has to be a shift in the focus on refugee affairs to be more centered on providing international opportunities to displaced people and integrating them into the societies they have found themselves in and communities that require their skills.

Congratulations to all of the winners of the first annual Nations United Awards at the Borders to Bridges event. Supporters voted for the contributions of inspirational people who together work toward the dissolving of barriers to opportunity, which is central of the mission of Nations United.

We salute Baron Wright for the award of creativity; Samer Abdelnour for the award of humanity; and Yasmina Ramzy for the award of appreciation.

Samer Abdelnour accepting his NU Award of Humanity

Nations United would like to thank all of the nominees, award winners and attendees of Borders to Bridges. You were all members of a diverse group from different cultural backgrounds, education and interests that came together under one roof to show their support for Nations United and its vision.

The first annual awards ceremony showcased the work of a small group of incredible individuals nominated by Nations United for their inspirational work, which highlights the core values of humanism, unity and diversity. The event also featured the screening of the award winning documentary by Girls & Football South Africa, ‘Can I Kick It?’ produced by Jos Dirkx, one of he nominees that evening. We know that the combined work of everyone nominated only scratches the surface of what we can achieve, but their efforts set an example for ambitious humanitarians across the globe.

Nations United launched a new initiative with Girls and Football SA designed to allow important health information to reach young girls in South Africa through the technological means they have access to. Where internet is expensive to use, many girls in South Africa participate in the modern technology through affordable mobile phones available to them. The health information will be sent to the girls as a text message to their mobile phones. Click here to learn more about the initiative.

Chaker Khazaal, founder of Nations United, covered the event Live with pictures & updates through his Facebook page that has over 25,000 fans in its second month. As people voted from over 72 countries, many participated with the event through their comments via the social media that Nations United uses as a tool to reach and unify people.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to all those who build bridges anywhere, opening up opportunities for underprivileged individuals and communities. Your work is instrumental to building a beautiful world – one with peace, unity and solidarity. There are not enough thank you’s to go around to adequately show our gratitude.

Be involved in transforming Borders to Bridges with the Nations United team. Nations United links humanitarian and developmental projects worldwide to supporters and sponsors using a vast network of contacts through social circles and the power of social media.

‘The Green May 17’ is an international event thought up by Nations United. On May 17, we encourage all of our friends and followers to wear green and express their awareness of environmental issues. The decision to wear green will also display the unity in thought and action around the environment. We all live in different environments but our actions all have effects at a planetary level. There are different things each of us can do to minimize these effects such as recycle, conserve energy, buy sustainable products, or simply raise awareness and share ideas for making our world a more environmentally friendly place. On May 17th Nations United will be making a few announcements about events, projects and ideas that will contribute to the ‘Nations United Green Campaign’ so please support us in the following ways:

Nations United has organized a sponsorship program for Palestinian refugee women to attend university. We require $2500 (US) to pay the full tuition fee for one woman to register into the one-year ‘Women’s Studies Diploma’ program at the Beirut-Arab University. Nations United has committed to sending 10 women to the program. $25,000 (US) needs to be raised or 10 people to sponsor 10 women by April 17th, 2011. Can I count on your support? Sponsorship funds can be donated directly to Women’s Humanitarian Organization (PALWHO) in Lebanon or given to Nations United.

This collaborative sponsorship between Nations United and PALWHO began in September 2010 when Nations United visited the Bourj El Barajneh refugee camp in Beirut, Lebanon. Together, we lobbied the Beirut-Arab University to create a program that is both accessible and pertinent to Palestinian Refugee women. Tuition was negotiated down to $2500 (US) per woman. These women attending university will return to the camp to share their knowledge through programs set up within the camp, thereby benefitting this community as a whole. Initially $12,500 (US) was raised to send 5 women to the program. Nations United visited the camp again in March 2011 and observed the positive result of this initial sponsorship. Only one semester into the program and already the women have created support groups and were actively part of a newfound camp community. The benefit of this sustainable program is astonishing. Because of this, Nations United and PALWHO have decided to expand the program.

Nations United utilizes business networks and state-of-the-art technology to connect artists and humanitarians with resources, making projects with unity as their goals a reality. Under the umbrella organization of Nations United are 7 campaigns whose shared mission is to build bridges by managing the relationships between projects, donors, friends, supporters, facilitators, and nations. We are working to bridge the gap between yourself and Palestinian refugees. By donating $2500 (US) directly to PALWHO or Nations United, you are not only supporting a community in-need, but you are actively forging the path of global unity. Nations United will regularly update you on the progress of the women you have sponsored.

Help us turn Borders into Bridges and support Palestinian Refugee Woman.
